The Benefits of Taking Time for Yourself
Self-care is more than a trend — it’s essential. Here’s why.
Read more →One of the most common questions we get before a first Lash Lift appointment is whether wearing glasses or contact lenses changes anything about the treatment. The short answer: glasses are no issue at all, and contact lenses just need to come out beforehand — here’s exactly what to expect either way.
If you wear glasses, there’s genuinely nothing extra to prepare. A Lash Lift doesn’t affect how your glasses sit on your face, and there’s no reason to remove them before or after your appointment beyond during the treatment itself, when your eyes are closed throughout.
If you wear contact lenses, plan to take them out before you arrive, or bring your case and solution so you can remove them at the studio. Lash lift solutions are applied very close to the lash line with your eyes closed for the full appointment, and lenses are best out of the way during that process.
The lifting and setting solutions used during a Lash Lift are applied directly to the lashes, close to the eyelid margin. Keeping contact lenses in during this process simply isn’t necessary, since your eyes stay closed the entire time — removing them beforehand avoids any risk of solution reaching the lens itself.
Most clients find it easier to simply wear their glasses to the appointment and skip the lens question entirely — it’s one less thing to think about before you sit down.
Since the first 24 hours after a Lash Lift call for keeping the eye area completely dry — see our full aftercare guide — most clients wait until they get home to reinsert contact lenses, using clean hands and being gentle around the freshly lifted lashes. There’s no rule against putting lenses in once you’re ready; it’s simply about giving the setting solution time to finish its work without extra handling around the eyes.
It happens more often than you’d think, especially on a Bali holiday when routines are looser than usual. If you arrive without a case or solution and you’re wearing contacts, let your therapist know straight away — she can talk you through the options rather than starting the treatment with lenses still in. Packing a spare case in your bag on appointment days is the simplest way to avoid this altogether.
Whether you wear glasses or contacts day to day, it’s worth bringing sunglasses to wear on the way home after your appointment, particularly if you’re heading out into bright sun straight after. It has nothing to do with the treatment itself — it’s simply a comfortable way to protect freshly lifted lashes from wind and glare during the drive back.
It’s a small detail, but it’s one of the first things your therapist will check in when you arrive, alongside anything else relevant to your appointment. Flagging it in advance — rather than discovering it once you’re already lying back — simply means the appointment starts on time and there’s no scrambling to find somewhere to put your lenses safely.
Whether you wear glasses every day, contacts occasionally, or neither, a Lash Lift appointment is straightforward either way. The only real preparation is remembering to bring your lens case if you wear contacts, and letting your therapist know beforehand so the appointment runs smoothly from start to finish.
